11 Mar What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 3
Year 4 have had a busy week, filled with all things music!
On Monday, the children were lucky enough to take part in a Conductive Music workshop, where they learnt about how to combine aspects of science, engineering and technology to create some wonderful music masterpieces! The children used their knowledge of electricity to create a simple circuit that was connected to a computer and a makey, makey machine. This clever invention allowed them to use aluminium foil wrapped around a ruler to play a range of tunes on a virtual keyboard. By the end of the session, the children was experts at playing Baby Shark, which they all loved!
Later on in the week, we visited Regent Hall in Oxford Street to watch a performance led by Apollo Music. Over the last few months, different musicians have been holding workshops in school with the children and teaching them all about the different parts of an orchestra, so it was a lovely opportunity to see everyone coming together. The children particularly enjoyed having the opportunity to ask the different musicians questions about their love for music and be immersed in a range of genres – their favourite was definitely the closing performance of the very famous theme tune for The Simpsons!
