What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 5

This week in Year 4, the children have been learning all about the diverse world that we live in. Our focus was exploring the impact of immigration on Britain.
To begin, we explored the movement of immigrants from the Caribbean and learnt all about Empire Windrush.

We then specifically looked at the creation and continued celebration of Caribbean influences in Britain, through Notting Hill Carnival. The children designed their own masks and costumes that they felt represented them as individuals. To finish our project, we brought a little of the Caribbean to our classroom through music and food.
