27 May What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 6
This week the children worked in groups in science to conduct an mini enquiry, where they observed the effect of different materials on absorbing sound. They were set the task of trying to find an appropriate material to soundproof the music room. Some children used cling film, whilst others used softer materials like fabric and cotton wool. When feeding back to the rest of the class, we discovered that the thicker and softer materials, like cotton wool were best at absorbing most of the sound, however the cling film made the sounds round the room appear louder with a longer echo.
