17 Apr What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 1
This week in year 5, we started our new science topic ‘Animals including humans’. In our first lesson we started by discussing who needs to know about human development. From discussion with their pairs, the children decided that doctors, parents need to know about human development to ensure the safety of their patients and children. We also said that it is important that we understand our own development, so we know what to expect as we grow up.
In this lesson, we split into 5 groups and as a group we looked at what we already know about human development, including labelling parts of the human body. We then grouped adult animals with their young, using word banks to label the young. Lastly we looked at bones in the human body, working in the same group to label as many bones as we could.
