What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 4

This week in Year 5, as part of our writing cycle, we have been working towards writing a newspaper report following Percy Jackson’s car crash, after an incident with the Minotaur. This is all based around our writing key text, “Percy Jackson” by Rick Riordan. At the beginning of the week we worked as reporters arriving on the scene and interviewed the victims and witnesses and recorded some useful quotes to use in our writing. Our grammar focus was to use relative clauses. We practiced this by using rainbow grammar and separating our subject, verb and relative clause. We then practiced moving our relative clause to fit in between our subject and verb, creating a drop in clause. Here are some images of the children creating their clauses.
