28 Mar What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 6
This week was STEAM week! We were tasked with making a savoury muffin that contained at least one vegetable component. First, we researched which ingredients are commonly found in savoury muffin recipes and how their fibre and vitamin content is beneficial for our bodies. After tasting a variety of potential ingredients (including courgette, spring onions, grated carrot, parmesan and feta cheese) we each designed our own recipe. As a group, we prepared all of the ingredients using a variety of cooking skills: grating carrots and courgettes, chopping other vegetables, cracking eggs, weighing flour and measuring milk for the batter. To make our personal muffin, we followed our own recipe and added our chosen ingredients into our portion of the batter. We ate these warm and really enjoyed them! Some of us will be taking the recipe home with us to cook with our families over the Easter break.
