10 Nov What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 2
This week Year 6 began to explore their new science unit: Light. They thought carefully about what prior knowledge they already had from their previous studies in Year 3.
The children focused on defining what a ‘light source’ is and then used this to sort images of everyday objects. To build on from this, the children made careful observations about the direction that light travels in and noticed that light waves/rays travel in straight lines away from a light source.
To end the lesson, the children revisited some more of their prior knowledge by making observations of light against different types of material – this helped them to recall what they know about properties of materials and reintroduced some key words: transparent, translucent and opaque.
