19 Jan What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 2
In science this week, the children began to explore the human circulatory system and learn about the function and importance of the heart. They used some prior knowledge of the human body to help them identify what the circulatory system is and the parts within it. Through research with secondary sources, the children discovered that the heart is a muscle that pulsates around 100,000 times a day! They were also fascinated with the idea that if all the veins and arteries in our bodies were removed and connected in a line, this would be able to travel around the world two and half times! The children also worked in pairs to find about the different functions of veins and arteries and were able to recognise these on scientific diagrams.
