What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 4

Year 6 have started their new unit of Art this week. We are looking at Yinka Shonibare, a prominent artist whose work encapsulates being a ‘citizen of the world’. He creates a range of paintings, and photographs, but we are looking particularly at his textile artwork. The children really enjoyed researching his life and finding out some incredible facts. We then analysed some of his famous prints and picked apart what we would then use in our work- stay tuned to see some of our prints in action!

The children are becoming great artists, and are able to analyse others’ artwork and their own artwork using key artistic vocabulary. Here they are analysing their self-portraits, using their oracy skills to speak with confidence.
