What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 5

This week, Year 6 have been very busy in their STEAM lesson. We have been investigating different electrical alarm systems and came up with some design criteria for our own Tsunami Alarms: they must be durable, waterproof and aesthetically pleasing.

In pairs, we worked hard to build an electrical circuit. Some of us chose a simple series circuit; others chose to use a parallel circuit using a buzzer and a lightbulb. The children then worked on building the casing for their alarm, using their prior knowledge of strengthening structures and strong 3D shapes.
