
23 May What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 5
This week in STEAM, Year 6 were introduced to our topic: cooking and nutrition. We explored the Eatwell Plate and investigated what our bodies need for a healthy lifestyle. We taste-tested ingredients, scaled up recipes, and examined both global and local food production. Our highlight was creating delicious seasonal savoury scones, using ingredients that are fresh and in season. The children worked brilliantly in groups, showing excellent teamwork and a strong focus on hygiene throughout. This hands-on project helped pupils understand the importance of balanced nutrition, sustainability, and safe food preparation. We’re proud of their creativity, curiosity, and commitment to healthy eating!
