28 Mar What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 6
Over the half term , Year 6 have been working on a cooking and nutrition project in STEAM lessons – they had to research, design and make a savoury scone for a class picnic. The children began by researching different savoury scone recipes and exploring the nutritional contents of them. They thought about how recipes could be altered across seasons, depending on what vegetables grow best at that time of year. They then took part in a small taste test to gauge an idea of the type of food that they would like to add to their savoury scones. Throughout the prepping and cooking process, the children thought very carefully about how to maintain a hygienic work space and they practised a range of mixing techniques, including rubbing and beating.
