In RE , Year 6 have been focusing on the big question: ‘How do Christians advertise Christmas to show what it means today?’
Over the last few weeks, the children have examined TV adverts, catalogue covers, magazines, charity appeals and Gospel passages, in order to allow them to gauge a variety of viewpoints about the story of Christmas and what it means for Christians. They have worked in pairs to define key words, such as secular, which have supported them in identifying the meaning behind some advertisements.
This week, the children combined all of their prior knowledge and created a poster that advertised their own interpretation of what Christmas means to them, using the previous examples as inspiration, where necessary. Take a look at some of their creations…
