04 Mar World Book Day
This week, St John St James have celebrated World Book Day and the pleasure that comes with escaping into the world of our favourite books and authors!
We had a brilliant day here at school, starting with admiring the array of different costumes that the children arrived to school in!
Our parents and carers then joined us in our classrooms to share our mindful reading session that starts each day. We discussed our favourite books and authors and read to them. After that, we took part in a book exchange, whereby we bought in a book that we recommended to our peers and swapped it with a book provided by another pupil in our class. This was a really exciting opportunity to discuss books that we had enjoyed and find other children who had enjoyed similar themes and characters to swap with. Our book corners also gained some new books!
After that, the Key Stage 2 children went to read with Key Stage One and Early Years Children. It was wonderful to see our children reading together across the key stages and sharing their love of reading with each other.
