What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 5

Inspired by our class text ‘Warrior Boy’ by Virginia Clay and using the knowledge we acquired in geography lessons about Kenyan savannahs and poaching, Year 5 produced newspaper articles about a fictitious poaching event. They used their imaginations to create a timeliness of key events and role played as witness and reporter to generate quotes for their report. They used a range on fronted adverbials to add details in their report about when, where and how the events transpired, and ensured they punctuated their direct speech precisely. Finally, they added elements such as timelines and images to present their writing as a real newspaper would.
