19 Apr What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 1
In Geography this week, Year 6 took part in a ‘Fieldwork Day’. They planned, carried out and evaluated a local area walk in order to help them gauge a better understanding of our local area. As geographers, the children carefully observed the different human and physical aspects around them and conducted 2 surveys during the walk: one on land use and the other on modes of travel.
Using the information that they have collected, the children will now begin to learn about and make comparisons with the Polar Regions. They will consider how human activity across the globe is having an impact on the Arctic and discuss things that we could do within our local communities to try and improve conditions worldwide.
