What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 1

This week, Year 6 began their writing for this half term by analysing persuasive devices used by authors. They are going to be writing letters to a member of paliament about The Mangrove 9, which they learnt about in their Diverse Britain lessons. Therefore, the class worked through different examples of persuasive writing, carefully unpicking the ways that the authors had persuaded their readers and got across their most important points. The class loved thinking about ways to put emphasis on certain points through the use of repetition, hyperbole and short, snappy sentences. We now can’t wait to start writing!
