11 Nov What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 2
In Geography this week, Year 6 continued to expand their knowledge of the island country: Indonesia. They began to look at some of the wildlife that inhabits the land and found that whilst the islands only make up 1.5% of the world’s land, it is actually home to 15% of the world’s wildlife. When researching the habitats of different animals, the children also discovered that many animals living in the east of the country are also found living in parts of Asia, whilst those living towards the west tend to also be found in Australia. After conducting some independent research, pairs began to discuss what features the animals had that made Indonesia a good home for them. and to contrast this they gave careful consideration as to whether such wildlife could survive here, in the UK.
